Sequence Description

Inspired Media

At the beginning, I had two main ideas for a VFX sequence. Which were either a battle involving magic, or a shootout between two groups. In the end I had chosen the shootout. This choice was driven from my main inspirations, where I had three in particular. These are, Gears of War (Epic Games, 2006), Payday: The Heist (Overkill Software, 2011) and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege (Ubisoft Montreal, 2015). From each of these, I had took inspiration from the different elements of their game play and visual styles. Such as the cover system from Gears of War, the cops versus robbers element of Payday: The Heist, and the visual style of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege.

(Gears of War, 2006).
(Payday: The Heist, 2011).
(Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, 2015).

The scene is intended to be a cut scene to a video game, which depicts a cops versus robbers style shootout. The sequence is intended to show a narrative, and could be played either at the start or end of a level.

Moodboard

I had gathered images to find asset inspirations. Such as uniforms, vehicles, weapons, buildings and VFX. I had searched for realistic elements, as I wanted my scene to look realistic. As I believed a non-realistic look, would be confusing and the elements would look out of place. Below is the link to my moodboard.
