Scene Preparation

Scene Preparation

Scene Plot

Ndolu is perched up on a tree looking for a victim to kill. Soon they found one and begin the hunt. Jumping off the tree, and then hanging off the branch with one arm shows the creatures strength. It then falls to the ground and prepares to rapidly crawl towards the victim, ending in a jump attack which dismembers the victim. Whilst also, cutting the body up even more with its claws. The creature then lets out a roar and teleports to the underworld, where it would return to earth the following century.

Assets Used

I imported three assets to complete my scene. Firstly, a tree (DJMaesen, 2018). This asset was needed as my character would start the animation on a tree, as they are searching for a victim high above the ground, from a vantage point.

Secondly, a Fence (Caboose3d, 2019). This asset was needed as I wanted to make the sequences look like it is set in the countryside, and putting the fence asset around the scene would create this illusion.

Thirdly, a Roar (FlechaBr, 2016). I wanted to include this roar to give the character more personality, as it would let out an unearthly roar and strike fear into any human who heard it. It also expresses the characters emotions during the scene, as it has killed another victim and roars as a sign of victory.

Lighting

I used the Arnold Physical Sky to light my scene. My reason being is that the scene would be outdoors. This lighting gave my scene a realistic look, and casts angled shadows from the sun. However, ideally the scene would be at night, and I needed the animation to be seen and well lit.

Camera

I decided to use one camera with one take for all three sequences. I made this decision because I felt the sequences would feel smoother and the camera follows Ndolu from the beginning to the end, with some varying cameras shots throughout. Additionally, I wanted to include some exaggeration in the camera take. Specifically, when the creature lets out its roar, and the camera quickly pans upwards.

Music

In addition, I wanted to create a short soundtrack that accompanies the scene and gives an extra sense of suspense and anticipation. I used orchestral instruments, such as the Violin and Cello to create a horror like soundtrack. The soundtrack can be accessed here – https://onlinesequencer.net/3399052
